Acterra hired Lisa Clark as a consultant in Dec. 2008 to help us create a database for our Green@Home residential energy auditing program, Green@Home. This program required a database that keeps track of residents requesting and receiving energy-saving HouseCalls, volunteers who are trained and provide these HouseCalls, and the related savings in energy and carbon dioxide emissions from the actions performed by volunteers during the HouseCalls and recommended to the resident as future energy-saving measures. We also wanted the database to automate the e-mail sending of liability waiver forms to residents and to send scheduling reminders to everyone. In addition, the database needed to be simple to use both by staff and volunteers. Finally, we needed to be able to compile the information about the residents' savings into reports for submission to our funders.

Lisa did an excellent job of working with us to develop the structure of the database, quickly grasping what fields needed to go where and what type of data would best be recorded in what place and in what form. She also anticipated our need to send automated e-mails and built this component in quickly. We were very impressed with her timeliness in completing the various segments of the work and her willingness to work through the typical questions and "glitches" in making a complex database work.

Lisa was very professional in working with us, charged a reasonable non-profit rate and was a very pleasant person to work with. We are interested in hiring her for some on-going additions to this database if we can secure the funding to add in a section that would automate the inventory of supplies used by our volunteers when doing their home visits.
